Abstract

1,065,888. Conveyers; rotary drums. R. HERDINA. Nov. 8, 1963 [Nov. 8, 1962], No. 44226/63. Headings B8A and B8S. Sweets 9 are fed from a drum 5 on to a conveyer belt 6 in single file. The drum has longitudinal troughs 1-4 in its inner circumferential wall, the width B being slightly less than double the sweet width b and a depth H nearly identical with the shorter major dimension h of the sweet, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown). The ends of the drum are closed by walls (not shown). In use, the drum is filled to the level N with sweets and is rotated in the direction 8. Sweets fall into trough at the bottom of the drum (as shown, trough 1) aided if required by vibrators or shakers. As the drum continues to rotate, a stationary baffle or plate 7 prevents the sweets in the trough 1 from falling out. When this trough arrives at the position of trough 3, as shown, the sweets fall on to the belt 6 and are conveyed from the drum.
