Abstract

1,065,542. Jacks. E. J. VON HEIDENSTAM. Nov. 4, 1963, No. 43394/63. Heading B8J. [Also in Division E1] Lifting equipment for erecting a multi-storey building by the lift-slab method (see Division E1), comprises a plurality of reversible hydraulic jacks 2 each provided with a screwthreaded lifting rod 3 for moving a slab connected to the jack in either direction along the rod or alternatively moving the rod and a slab connected thereto in either direction relative to the jack. The jacks 2 are disposed symmetrically about a load-bearing column 1 of the building, the jacks and associated rods 3 being selectively connected to the column 1 by connecting means displaceable along the column for details of which means Figs. 3, 4 and 5 (not shown) should be referred to. Each jack comprises two nuts 8, 9 which are rotatable about the rod 3 and are connectable to sprocket wheels 11, 12 respectively. The nut 8 co-operates with an hydraulic piston 7 whilst the nut 9 cooperates with end plates 5 or 10. Each jack is pivotally connected to a U-shaped member 15 which supports two hydraulic motors 16, 17 having chain and sprocket drive output means 18, 19, 23, 24 for the jacks. The casing bolts 14 of the jacks are extended to receive the load.
