Abstract

1,065,218. Temperature alarms. VILTER MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Sept. 2, 1965, No. 37507/65. Headings G4H and G4N. [Also in Division F1] Thermistor probes P1-P9 (Figs. 2 and 7B, not shown) positioned in a gas compressor (see Division F1) sense the temperature of the associated part of the compressor, emitting signals to fault indicating apparatus when a part overheats or when the temperature difference between two parts is too great or too small. In the form shown a plurality of rotary switches (Fig. 7A, not shown) are stepped by a step-generator to connect each of the probes in turn with an amplifier circuit and a siliconcontrolled rectifier. The silicon-controlled rectifier triggers when the temperature requirements of the probe being scanned are incorrect to energize relays, the associated contacts of which (1) connect the appropriate probe to one of a plurality of control panel indicator lamps, (2) control audible alarm equipment and (3) automatically shut-down the operating equipment. Dialling of a pre-determined telephone number to deliver a recorded message may also be initiated. An alarm is also given if the power supply fails, the amplifier and silicon controlled rectifier being checked for proper operation at the completion of every scan cycle.
