Abstract

1,063,492. Potentiometers. SPECTROL ELECTRONICS CORPORATION. Sept. 10, 1963 [Sept. 12, 1962], No. 35703/63. Heading H1S. A sealed potentiometer comprises a non- conductive base member 80 having a central portion 82 forming a bearing post for a rotor 124 carrying a conductive cup member 140 which presses on a springy slip-ring contact 84 and carries a movable contact 142 in contact with a resistance coil or cord 106. The rotor is provided with an annular channel 132 for a sealing ring 134 and has a projecting nose 130 for co-operation with a stop 120. The slip-ring member 84 has a narrow U-shaped portion which is crimped on to a lead 92 and lies in a channel 94 in the base to prevent rotation of 84. A metallic sealing cap 112 compresses the sealing ring 134 and presses cup member 140 on to contact 84. The stop ring 118 may be integral with the base.
