Abstract

A method of plating steel with white metal comprises heating a tinned steel strip to between 220‹ and 380‹ C., and applying the white metal in the cold state between the rolls of a rolling mill which deforms the white metal only. The strip is preferably heated inductively between 320‹ and 380‹ C. in a protective gas atmosphere.
