Abstract

1,063,288. Forage harvesters. KOMBINAT FORTSCHRITT, LANDMASCHINEN VEB. Sept. 12, 1964, No. 37385/64. Heading A1F. A forage-harvester, having a rotary cutting drum 6 feeding crop into an upwardly and rearwardly extending duct 7 having a curved upper portion 8, is characterized in the provision of an external blower 10 which supplies an air-blast to the duct to assist in the transport of the crop, the air-blast entering the duct tangentially to the curved portion 8 through a fish-tailed nozzle 11 terminating at the commencement of the curved portion. The nozzle 11 extends across the full width of the duct 7 so that the air-blast spreads out into a boundary layer along the inner surface of the front wall 9 of the duct. The blower is driven from the rotary drum 6.
