Abstract

1,063,154. Rollers. GREENGATE & IRWELL RUBBER CO. Ltd. Dec. 16, 1965 [Jan. 21, 1965], No. 2760/65. Heading F2U. A soft rubber roller coating, of the order of 20 BSH, is produced by forming a premix of a polyvinyl chloride polymer, allowing it to gel and cool, mixing with a blend of nitrile rubber, milling the resulting composition and vulcanizing it on a core cylinder. The premix may comprise a P.V.C. polymer with a stabilizer and plasticizer (proportions given), the mixing lasting for 15-20 minutes, and the mixture then being poured into a tray and allowed to gel at 130‹ C. in air for 30 minutes. The rubber blend consisting of butadiene acrylonitrile, zinc oxide, stearic acid and an accelerator is mixed for 4 minutes, after which clay and the premix are added and mixed for a further 3 minutes, sulphur then being added and the mixture milled. Calendered sheets of the material are vulcanized on the core cylinder.
