Abstract

1,063,115. Latches. EDWARDS BROTHERS (TIPPERS) Ltd. and R. G. WEBSTER. Oct. 22, 1965 [Nov. 9, 1964], No. 45608/64. Heading E2A. A selector mechanism comprises a first component movable between a first and a second position and a second component adapted be actuated to move or allow to be moved, the first component from the first to the second position, locking means adapted to lock the first component in the first or second position, the arrangement being such that with the first component in the first position, actuation of the second component, causes or allows release of the locking means and causes or allows movement of the first component to the second position and with the first component in the second position, actuation of the second component causes or allows release of the locking means and causes or allows release of the first component to the first position. As shown, the mechanism comprises a pair of coaxial sliding shafts 11, 12 within a housing 10, the outer shaft 11 carrying a sleeve 14 forming part of a selector fork 15. A spring loaded detent 18 is engageable in one or the other of two recesses 20 in the outer shaft 11 and are interconnected by a slot, which receives a key 23 located on the shaft 12, the arrangement being such that inward movement of the shaft 12 from the position shown lifts the detent 18 to allow the key 23 to abut the forward recess 20 and drive the shaft 11 forwardly until the detent engages the second recess 20 corresponding to the broken line position of the fork 15. The shaft 12 is operated by a flexible cable (not shown) which is connected to a projection 21.
