1,062,823. Erecting wall slabs. C. V. BLUMFIELD and E. D. J. MATHEWS. April 5, 1965, No. 14335/65. Headings E1A and E1B. In a building, Fig. 10 (not shown) comprising square steel columns 57 of storey height supporting storey-high concrete wall panels which have been cast flat on site and lifted into position, and which support concrete ceiling panels, each wall panel has at each of its upper comers a lifting lug 29, Fig. 16, welded at right angles to a fixing plate 30, the fixing plates 30 of adjacent panels being secured to each other and/or to straps on the column 57 by welding or bolting. The panels may be temporarily supported by pivoted plates 77 on a square strap 60 slidable on the column. The lifting lugs 29 and plates 30 may be anchored to the panel by embedded rods, Fig. 9 (not shown) or, using the panels described in Specification 1,062,822, may be welded to a strip metal peripheral frame. The metal frame may also be welded to the columns 57. The columns 57 are extended upwards by further columns fitting in or over their upper ends. The joints between columns and panels may be covered externally by cement or by attached fireproof material.
