Abstract

1,062,436. Dispensing articles. COMPACT INDUSTRIES Inc. June 19, 1964 [July 8, 1963], No. 25525/64. Heading A4T. [Also in Division B8] A substance 18 (Fig. 7) such as instant coffee is packed between adjacent cups of a stack (11) (Fig. 1 not shown) which are used in automatic vending machines. In the method described the stack is made by putting a measure of the substance (18) (Fig. 3 not shown) on an inverted cup (21), and then placing a second cup (10) over it, and so on. The bottom cup (21) may be a dummy cup i.e. it has no flange (17) and so will not register in the machine. The completed stack (Fig. 1) may be placed in a transparent bag (25) which is provided with a tear strip (22) secured to a false bottom (25) in the bottom cup, and the ends of the bag may be sealed by a clip (20) or a rubber band. The air may be evacuated from the bag to preserve the coffee or the like and the bag may be heat shrunk about the stack so as to retain endwise pressure on the cups.
