Abstract

1,062,258. Tumbler driers. PHILCO CORPORATION. Sept, 17, 1964 [Oct. 1, 1963], No. 37997/64. Heading F4G. A horizontally mounted tumbler drier drum 10 is reversibly rotated by a roller 14 on a shaft 15 driven by a reversible motor 16, which shaft also drives the rotor 18 of a centrifugal blower 19 so that the direction of rotation of the drum and blower may be cyclically alternated. Circuit means are described for periodically reversing the motor and altering the discharge rate of the air current generated by the blower in a programme of predetermined timed periods and for controlling energization of an air heater 23 in a stationary back section of the drier. The circuit control means includes a thermostat, a timer and means responsive to vibration of the drum to reverse the drive.
