1,060,782. Automatic pressure control. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS - G. m. b. H. Feb. 20, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No.7124/64. Heading G3R. In an internal combustion engine plant provided with supplies of air, fuel and lubricant, a detector, responsive to the state of one supply section, controls another supply section through a controller which includes an electronic bi-stable element. In Fig. 1, air reservoirs E1-E4 supply a common conduit L5 through electrically controlled valves V1-V4. The pressure in reservoirs E1, E2 may be increased by electric motordriven pumps M1, M2 operated by closing switches S1, S2. An interrogating unit (not shown), including electronic bi-stable devices, explores pressure and other measuring devices P1-P5, U1, U2 and periodically indicates and records whether or not the measured quantities have desired values. Valves V1 and V2 are controlled by the unit so that if pressure P5 is below a satisfactory level, switch S1 is closed to start pump M1 and valve V1 is opened, while, if the pressure P5 still does not rise sufficiently, valve V2 is opened and pump M2 started. Signals may also be produced by the unit if variables associated with cooling water, fuel and lubrication supplies are satisfactory so that a diesel engine for ship propulsion, for example, can only be started when all its auxiliary equipment is in a ready condition.
