Abstract

[Also in Divisions B4 and B8] In dispensing sheet material from a roll or folded stack in a container C, Fig. 4, the material, which may be a flattened plastics tube sealed at intervals across its width at S, Fig. 6, so as to form bags when severed along a tear line 24, has the tear line formed of varying frangibility, the weakest point being formed at the centre by short slits 25 joined by short ties 25a whereby a tab 20 on the container front wall 10 penetrates the line 24 on pulling out the sheet. A shorter portion of increased tear resistance is formed on either side of the centre portion by at least three slits 26 slightly greater than twice the length of slits 25, the ties 26a also having a correspondingly increased length, and the outer portions of line 24 extending to container guides 22 have slits approximating the length of centre slits 25 but with ties 27a intermediate the length of ties 25a and 26a. For high speed rolling of the sheet, a modified tear line (Fig. 7, not shown) is described.
