Abstract

Novel compounds of formula <FORM:1058542/C2/1> wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a residue of formula R1CO- in which R1 is an alkyl, aryl or aryl-substituted hydroxyalkyl residue, R2 and R3 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl radicals, Z is an alkylene, oxa-alkylene, aza-alkylene or alkenylene radical containing at least two carbon atoms, or a phenylene radical, and X is an anion, and wherein the oxygen atom of the -OR group is cis or trans to the nitrogen bridge atom, are prepared by reacting a nortropine of formula <FORM:1058542/C2/2> with a dihalide of formula <FORM:1058542/C2/3> and, if desired, when R in the product is a hydrogen atom, esterifying the product with an acid of formula R1COOH.
