A wall &c. overlay comprises a sound and heat-insulating backing I having a covering layer 2 adhered thereto, the backing and cover layer being additionally connected by seams 3 which form a relief pattern, the seam perforations 5 providing air circulating apertures to allow the wall breathability. The backing layer may be foam rubber or foam plastics, e.g. polyurethane or a textilefibre web. The cover may be a decorated or opaque plastics foil, e.g. polyvinylchloride and may be reinforced by glass or plastics fibres; the two layers may be adhered using a plastic adhesive.
