Counters 3 move endless strips to display a histogram of the number of samples of the input variable having the respective values corresponding to contacts 12, and counter 30 records the total number of samples. Counters 3 may be connected in series to display the number of samples for which the variable exceeds a certain percentage of a nominal value.
