Abstract
1,057,701. Air and gas heating stoves; superheaters. URQUHART'S (1926) Ltd. Jan. 21, 1965 [Jan. 21, 1964], No. 2663/64. Headings F4A and F4B. In separately-fired liquid, air or gas heaters or steam superheaters having a combustion chamber A with burner T and a heating chamber C containing the heat-exchange members D, gas injector means M are provided for injecting gas or air into the heater chamber at a location spaced from the outlet of the combustion chamber, to return combustion gases through a duct F to the space surrounding the outlet of the combustion chamber A. The return duct E is formed by a wall E having a throat G formed opposite the outlet of the combustion chamber A, which is surrounded by an air jacket S to which air is supplied through an air heater K comprising zig-zag ducts in the upper part of the heating chamber. Air injector nozzles M are provided in the air duct above the return duct F to cause entrainment of some of the cooled combustion gases, the mixture of air and entrained gas passing into the heating space through the throat G. The injector nozzles M are controlled by valves N and the air for combustion is controlled by a valve P and enters the combustion chamber through nozzles Q.
