Abstract

105,700. Mottershead, J. Aug. 25, 1916. Chucks for gripping shells &c. internally comprise bodies 5 and flanges 3 which may be integral. The body is drilled and slotted to receive transversely oscillating jaw s 11. having their ends formed as pivots and retained by a cap and nut 20. The jaws have extensions 14 engaging slots in a sleeve 9 that forms an abutment for the shell and serves to rotate the jaws automatically into gripping position when cut is applied. Tommy-holes 22 are provided for releasing.
