Abstract

[Also in Division H1] A method of making an electromagnetic device, especially an electromagnetic valve having a drawn armature tube 1 and a plug 4 of magnetic material arranged in the base thereof characterized in that the plug is inserted into the tube before the last drawing operation in front of the drawing plunger 10 so that the plug is pressed against the base and the tube drawn about the plug to retain it therein. A copper short-circuit ring 6 (Fig. 1, not shown) is fitted in the end face of the plug. Prior to drawing a nut 7 is welded to the plug base. The end faces of the plug and plunger are radiused and the annular recess formed thereby filled by the deformed material during drawing to produce an annular retaining rib 12 (Fig. 1). The difference in the diameter of the plug and tube bore prior to the final draw is approximately 0.I mm.
