1,056,020. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. BENDIX CORPORATION. Nov.29, 1965 [Dec. 7, 1964; Dec. 14, 1964], No. 50602/65. Heading G3P. [Also in Division F2J. A servomotor comprises diaphragms 30, 38 arranged in tandem and carrying wall members 20, 22 respectively, wall member 20 being provided with a threaded tubular boss that is received in a threaded bore 60 in wall member 22. A partition 54 sealingly surrounds and supports the boss and carries an annular rim 26 that interconnects the peripheries of the diaphragms. Four chambers 50, 58, 56, 52 are defined and, when the control valve 80, 90 is in the released position shown, a vacuum applied to chamber 50 via a check valve 112 is communicated to the other chambers via passages 62, 64, 114, 124; the spaces between raised bosses 108 on diaphragm 38 and passage 128. Movement of the control rod 76 to the left first seats valve member 90 on seat 122 and then unseats valve member 80 from its seat on member 90, thereby communicating chambers 52, 58 with atmosphere via filters 130 and actuating the servomotor. A reaction rod 66 and extrudable disc 74 provide 'feel' for the operator by reacting against the end of member 80. If the vacuum is lost, the movement of the control rod is communicated directly to walls 20, 22 via shoulder 84 on member 80 and shoulder 132 on the tubular boss of wall member 20.
