Abstract

1,055,486. Helicopters. WESTLAND AIRCRAFT Ltd. Sept. 7, 1965 [Sept. 9, 1964], No. 36869/64. Headings B7G and B7W. A helicopter rotor is driven by a free-turbine engine 1 supplied with fuel by a fuel system 2, the collective pitch of the rotor blades being adjusted by a pitch control lever 7 with which is associated a fuel control device 3 connected to system 2 through a switch 5. A device 4 responsive to torque in the rotor drive system 6 opens switch 5 when torque applied to the rotor exceeds a safe figure thereby temporarily cutting off the fuel supply to the engine.
