1,054,904. Spinneret orifice shape. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Jan. 6, 1965 [Jan. 9, 1964], No. 533/65. Heading B5B. A spinneret for spinning artificial filaments has one or more spinning orifices made up of four successive coaxial portions whereof one is of uniform cross-section along its axis and communicates with the outlet face of the spinneret and the others are frusto-conical, the frusto-conical portions being divergent and of progressively larger apex angles toward the inlet end of the orifice. The orifice portion of uniform cross-section along its axis may be of right cylindrical form. The apex angles of the frusto-conical orifice portions may be 16 to 17 degrees, 25 to 35 degrees and 60 to 65 degrees. The lengths of the orifice portion of uniform cross-section and the successive frusto-conical portions may be, respectively ¢ to 1¢, ¢ to 1, 3 to 8 and 20 to 30 times the diameter of the portion of uniform cross-section. The diameter of the orifice portion of uniform cross-section may be from 0À025 to 0À50 mm.
