Abstract

1,053,851. Bird and animal cages. T. G. DOWDALL & SONS Ltd. June 26, 1963 [March 27, 1962], No. 11648/62. Heading A1M. A cage for birds or small animals comprises a wirework body portion 1, forming the sides 4 and ends 5 of the cage, detachably secured to a rigid base 2, and a wirework top 3 detachably secured or hinged to the cage body 1, the sides and ends all being inclined to the base and hinged together with the axes of the hinge connections 6 passing through a common point so that when detached from the base, the cage body may be collapsed to a relatively flat condition. The connections 6 are formed by horizontally extending wires 7 of the ends 5 hooked around the upwardly extending wires 8 of the sides 4. The base of the cage is formed of channel members 11 supporting a removable tray 12 and the top 3 is attached to the cage body by means of hooks 9 formed from the wires of the cage body. The base 2 and cage body are secured together by clips 15. Brackets 18 moulded from plastics material are provided at the corners of the cage body and support glass screens 19.
