Abstract

1,053,711. Wire stranding machines. EDMANDS CO. Feb. 12, 1964 [March 20, 1963], No. 5980/64. Heading D1T. A stranding machine of the kind having a source A, a closing die D, and a double twist mechanism B includes one or more stepped capstans in the area C to deliver strands to the closing die D. The capstans contact a sufficient length of the wires to prevent slip of the wires and are of stepped formation so that as the wires are twisted and taken up the correct amount will be led into the closing die D to prevent buckling or kinking of the wires. A motor 23 drives the capstans 53, 55 and cradle 11, and a separate motor 12 drives the take up reel 10. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 912432.
