[Also in Division A4] A hand dryer comprises a cabinet 1, 2 containing means 8, 9 for discharging warm air from the bottom of the cabinet for a predetermined time under the control of a timing device 10, a removable holder for a stack of interleaved towels and means operable by withdrawal of a towel to actuate the timing device. A front compartment 1 of the cabinet, which has a bottom opening for the discharge of hot air. contains a blower 8, a main heater 9a controlled by the timing device and a preheater 19 which is controlled as desired by a manual switch. The rear compartment 2 receives a removable holder containing interleaved paper towels, the towels being so stacked that a portion of the bottom towel T hangs through bottom openings in the holder and the rear compartment. The holder is supported by rollers 4, 5 so that the hanging portion of the bottom towel passes over an operating roller 7. As the bottom towel is withdrawn, it rotates the operating roller. A blade 13, carried by a rocker arm 14 which is supported by the operating roller, then interrupts a beam of light between a lamp 12 and a photo-electric cell 11 to set the timing device in operation and cause the discharge of hot air for a predetermined time. When the towel has been withdrawn, the rocker. arm and blade are returned by gravity to their initial positions.
