Abstract
1,053,371. Measuring degrees of superheat electrically. RICHARDSONS, WESTGARTH & CO. Ltd. Dec. 10, 1962 [Sept. 8, 1961], No. 32323/61. Heading G1N. Degrees of steam superheat are indicated on an instrument 16 energized from the combined outputs of a resistance bulb 12 and a bridge connected transducer 10 subjected respectively to steam temperature and pressure. It is shown that by suitably scaling the two signals, the difference between the pressure signal and the temperature signal can be made directly proportional to the degree of superheat. The output signal voltage may be used to initiate an alarm and to control the degrees of superheat. It is stated that mechanical methods of measuring temperature and pressure resulting in signals in the form of mechanical movements or hydraulic or pneumatic pressures may be utilized.
