Abstract

1,050,679. Curing polyepoxides with imidazoles. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. April 30, 1964 [May 2, 1963], No. 17982/64. Heading C3B. Polyepoxides are cured with an imidazole having a secondary amine group in the ring. Preferred imidazoles have the formula wherein X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP> and X<SP>3</SP> each denote H, halogen, a hydrocarbon radical, a halogen-substituted hydrocarbon radical, an ester substituted hydrocarbon radical, a mercaptan-substituted hydrocarbon radical or an amide-substituted hydrocarbon radical. The curable compositions may also contain conventional curing agents, accelerators, reactive diluents, solvents, extenders, fillers and reinforcements. The compositions are useful as adhesives, as laminating and encapsulating resins, in the manufacture of mouldings and filament wound objects.
