Abstract

1,050,004. Pneumatic tyres. MICHELIN & CIE. (Compagnie Generale Des Etablissements Michelin). Sept. 8, 1964 [Sept. 14, 1963], No. 36765/64. Heading B7C. In a pneumatic tyre having a tread of a colour and/or composition different from that or those of the side walls, the tread is applied directly to a carcass formed solely of two plies of cords, the plies being formed by helically winding about inextensible bead wires a band of parallel cords calendered between two layers of elastomeric mixture having different thicknesses. The thicker layer provides the outside and inside face of the tyre, is of light colour and provides resistance to cracking and atmospheric conditions, and the thinner layer is a butyl rubber mix to provide air-tightness. The cords may be made of artificial or synthetic textiles or glass fibres. The tread is preferably black.
