Abstract

1,048,707. Cleaning buildings. C. SIERRA. May 11, 1965 [May 11, 1964], No. 19896/65. Heading A4F. [Also in Division B7] Apparatus for cleaning walls and ships' bottoms comprises a rotary brush 7 (or other cleaning tool) having a disc-shaped cleaning surface, and driven by a hydraulic motor 6, and carried by an arm 4 horizontally pivoted to a rotatable mast 3 mounted on a wheeled trolley 1. The mast 3 is rotatable manually by a lever 13, and the arm 4 tilted as desired by a hydraulic jack 10 to adjust the brush 7 relatively to the surface to be cleaned. The trolley 1 may be moved manually or by a motor, and transportable runways or tracks may be provided therefor. In an alternative embodiment the rotary brush has a peripheral surround of bristles or matting to protect the operator from any centrifugal discharge of material detached from the surface being cleaned, the back of the brush being perforated to allow detached material to pass therethrough preferably into a bag.
