Abstract

Titania particles having improved wetting and/or dispersing properties in organic media are prepared by coating the particles with normal or iso-alkyl tetra-alkoxy-silanes. The particles may be coated with metal oxide, silica or a phosphate prior to treatment with silane. The silane may be poured or sprayed on to the metal oxide particles and may be in the form of a solution or suspension in an organic liquid. The particles may be milled either during or after treatment with silane which is added in proportions such that the particles retain 0.1 to 5%.
