1,046,481. Door controlling mechanisms. D. A. THOMAS. Sept. 5, 1962 [Nov. 14, 1961; April 11, 1962], Nos. 40721/61 and 14087/62. Heading E2M. Doors 2 hinged at their sides to meet at the middle of the door opening are made to open and close simultaneously by a mechanism comprising an endless figure-of-eight member with chain elements 8 passing round sprocket wheels 9 on square or non-circular crosssection spindles 11 detachably socketed in the top of each door. The mechanism is contained within space 6 between the top rail 7 of the door frame and plate 5 lining the wall 3. The doors may also be controlled by a compression spring mounted in space 6 and bearing against a cam fixed to spindle 11 to give one or two rest positions for each door.
