Abstract
1,045,881. Fluid pressure apparatus. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. March 20, 1963 [Dec. 21, 1961], No. 45941/61. Heading F1P. [Also in Division B7] In an hydraulic or pneumatic actuator system especially for reversing the thrust of aircraft engines, a double-acting main ram 1 for opening the thrust reverse doors is locked in its extended position, in which the doors are open, by a pivoted lever 30 movable to its fully released position by an actuator rod 28 before a control valve 9 operates to cause the main ram 1 to move. In the fully locked position a selector valve 40 is positioned with its piston valve 41 moved to the right and the remainder of the system is positioned as shown. In this position pressure fluid is supplied through a duct 8, a central chamber 16 in the control valve 9 and a duct 19 leading to the ram cylinder 3 to act upon the side 7 of the ram piston 2, the fluid on the other side thereof being vented to atmosphere through a port 23. A branch duct 48 leading from the duct 8 supplies through the selector valve 40 and a duct 52 the side 39 of a piston 26 which carries the actuator rod 28. When the piston valve 41 is moved to the position shown, pressure fluid passes to the side 38 of the piston 26 to thereby displace the lock lever 30 and a piston valve 11 of the control valve 9. The movement of the piston valve 11 cuts-off the supply to the side 7 of the ram piston 2 and when the lock lever 30 is fully released connects the supply to the side 6 to retract the ram 1 and vent the side 7 to atmosphere through ducts 19 and 24.
