Abstract

1,045,507. Suction lifting devices. BING & GRONDAHLS PORCELLAENSFABRIK A.S. Sept. 23, 1965 [Sept. 23, 1964], No. 40669/65. Heading B8H. To lift an object 12 without damaging it air is exhausted from a space 14 through a flexible tube 8 so that the object is held against a resilient pad 6. Air is now exhausted from the chamber formed by bellows 4 and plates 1, 5 through an orifice 2, thus causing the bellows to contract and the object to be lifted. By controlling the rate of flow of air to the bellows the object may be moved rapidly until it is almost touching the support on which it is being set down. Biasing means may assist the downward movement of the plate 5. The device may be used for lifting unfired crockery. Positive pressure may be applied to the space 14 when setting down the load.
