Abstract
In a cyclone dust separator leaving an axial or tangential inlet for dust-laden gases and an axial clean gas outlet tube, the ratio of the mean radius of the dust-laden gas inlet opening to the internal radius of the clean gas outlet tube is not more than 1.6; the length of an imaginary cylinder extending inside the cyclone from the inlet of the clean gas tube to meet a conical wall portion of the cyclone is at least eight times the radius of the cylinder; and the ratio of the radius of the dust outlet opening to the mean radius of the dust-laden gas inlet opening is within the range of 0.07 to 0.4. A multi-cell separator consisting of three cyclones is shown and is as described with reference to Fig. 5 of patent Specification 1,017,417. Formulae are given.
