Abstract

1,043,980. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. AMERICAN BRAKE SHOE CO. Sept. 3, 1965, No. 37800/65. Heading G3P. A three-stage servo-valve comprises a firststage valve 102, which may be in the form of a pivotable nozzle co-operating with two receiving orifices (Fig. 5, not shown), a second-stage spool valve 106 controlled via lines 104, 105 by the firststage valve, and a third-stage spool valve 112 controlled via lines 109, 110 by the second stage valve, the second-and third-stage valves being connected to the first-stage valve by feed-back means comprising a lever 53 and flexible link 60. The natural frequency and damping ratio of the system may be varied by varying the point of connection of the link 60 to the lever 53. In operation, displacement of the first-stage valve, e.g. by a fluid force, a mechanical force or an electro-mechanical force such as a torque motor, causes displacement of both spools 106, 112, such displacements being summed by the lever 53 which acts via link 60 to return the first-stage valve to its neutral position to lock spools 106, 112 in their displaced positions.
