Abstract

1,041,808. Nut runners. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Sept. 25, 1964 [Sept. 27, 1963], No. 39181/64. Heading B3N. A nut runner comprises an electric motor 11 which drives a shaft 15 through a speed reduction box 14, including a slipping or overrun clutch 45, a member 27 driven by shaft 15 through balls 30, 31, and a tool carrying hub 19 held in driving engagement with member 27 by claws 23-26. Member 27 has a serrated or toothed end face 40 which is adapted to engage a similar face 41 on a fixed member 42. Clutch 45 may be replaced by a switch, operable by member 27. In operation, shaft 15 along with members 27 and 19 is rotated. When the resistance to rotation increases, member 27 is moved axially due to the balls 30, 31 sliding in grooves 32, and serrations 40, 41 coact to stop rotation of members 27, 19 and 15. Clutch 45 slips, and running of the nut ceases.
