A wrap-around carton with a tab 18, 19 (Fig. 2, not shown) at one or both open ends, is advanced in a path above the path of a group of articles to be packaged so that the tab 18, 19 can be folded down towards the articles. In the machine illustrated fixed projections 47 (Fig. 6) on a conveyer 10 engage tabs 39, 42 (Fig. 2, not shown) on the leading panel 18, and pawls 48 pivoted to the conveyer are turned by fixed cams 60 to fold the trailing flap 19 under. The tabs 39 . . . 42 are subsequently folded flat against the underside of the blank by ploughs 62 while further ploughs 63 fold down the sides 27, 29 of the blank. Margins 31, 32 are subsequently folded under (Fig. 4, not shown), and secured by inter-engaging cut-outs 31A (Fig. 2, not shown). The blanks are delivered from a magazine by a pair of oppositely rotating discs as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,817,520 and the articles are formed into two rows of three as in Specification 790.815. A roller (not shown) may ensure that the sloping panels 23, 24 (Fig. 4, not shown) at the upper corners of the wrapper lie against the articles. To permit packages of different sizes to be formed the position of the cam 60 may be altered.
