Abstract
1,040,774. Roll holders. G. M. TROMP. June 21, 1963 [June 22, 1962], No. 24881/63. Heading A4G. [Also in Division E1] In a toilet seat pivotable between substantially horizontal and substantially vertical positions about a fixed horizontal axis of aligned spindles 4 including hollow seat cushions 5, each containing nip rollers 8, 9 rotatable synchronously and driven by a spindle 15, connected thereto via a freewheel device and biased by a torsion spring 19 to rotate in the direction of slip of this device to wind around the spindle 15 one end of a nylon cord 16, to raise the seat to be substantially vertical with the spring 19 then minimally stressed, when the seat is pivoted to be substantially horizontal, the cord 17 is unwrapped to rotate the rollers 8, 9 which pull a strip 7 of paper over the cushion 5 from a roll 6 therein to be severed by a rib 12 and slot 11 on the rollers 8, 9 simultaneously with the tensioning of the spring 19 for return of the seat to the substantially vertical. The rib 12 and slot 11 do not contact each other, whereas the roller 9 is coated with a material having a high coefficient of friction relative to paper. The edges of the slot 11 in roller 10 may be raised radially above its surface.
