Abstract

Plant growth-promoting compositions contain the compound of formula <FORM:1040546/C1/1> or salts or esters thereof, together with an inert diluent or carrier, e.g. an aqueous or organic solvent medium or an inert solid such as chalk, talc or kaolin.ALSO:The invention comprises the compound of formula <FORM:1040546/C2/1> and its salts and esters, this compound being made by hydrolysis (e.g. by heating under reflux with H2O in a N2 stream) of 1-amino-2-nitro-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid (see Specification 1,038,722). The Me ester is prepared using CH2N2. The NO2 group may be reduced to give the corresponding NH2-compound, the N-benzyl and N-benzoyl-O-acetyl derivatives of which are also mentioned.ALSO:Plant growth-inhibiting compositions contain the compound of formula <FORM:1040546/A5-A6/1> or salts or esters thereof, together with an inert diluent or carrier, e.g. an aqueous or organic solvent medium or an inert solid such as chalk, talc or kaolin.
