Abstract

Guanidines of the formula t-Octyl-NH-C(:NH)NHR and acid addition salts thereof, wherein R is H or CH3 and the t-octyl group is such that the C atom attached to the N atom does not carry an H atom are prepared by reacting t-octyl cyanamide with an amine R.NH2. The guanidines of the invention are hypotensive agents and may be made up in a form suitable for enteral or parenteral administration. The guanidines are also fungicidal agents.
