Abstract

In the flame spraying of metal or ceramic particles, the particles are subjected to an instantaneous burst of energy by e.g. a laser or maser beam or a rapid arc discharge, either as they are depositing or after they have deposited but are still in the form of a single layer. Materials which may be deposited are nickel or nickel alloys, steel, iron silicides, aluminium, copper, bronze, brass, niobium, molybdenum, tantalum, zinc, tin, chromium or its carbide, babbit metals, cobalt, tungsten, silicon, lead, silver, metal oxides e.g. aluminium or zirconium oxide, zinconates, titanates and glass. The coated surface may be steel, aluminium, copper, brass, titanium, niobium, molybdenum, and tantalum.ALSO:In the flame spraying of glass particles, the particles are subjected to an instantaneous burst of energy by, e.g. a laser or maser beam or a rapid arc discharge, either as they are depositing or after they have deposited but are still in the form of a single layer. The coated surface may be steel, alluminium, copper, brass, titanium, niobium, molybdenum and tantalum.
