Abstract

1,038,955. Endless conveyers. BAGSHAWE & CO. Ltd. Nov. 13, 1964 [Nov. 14, 1963], No. 44988/63. Heading B8A. A reversible conveyer comprises two pairs of endless chains 1, 2 arranged to extend over an elevator section in two parallel planes and to run in a common horizontal plane before returning to the foot of the elevator section. Between the chains of each of the pairs 1, 2 there are connected spaced cross-bars 9, 10 so arranged that a front cross-bar 9 and a rear cross-bar 10 are in common horizontal planes in the elevator section. The sleeves of the cross-bars may rotate during the horizontal run, the chains 1 being supported by bars 16. The chains 1, 2 are driven at the same speed by a drum with radial fins 15 forming grooves of sufficient width to receive the cross-bars 9, 10. The links of chains 1, 2 are half a link out of phase and certain of the links of chains 2 are C-shaped to receive the bars 9 in the horizontal section since the chains 2 are inwards of the chains 1. Articles 21 are fed to or received from the conveyer by endless conveyer belts 22, 17. Fig. 6 (not shown) illustrates an arrangement of two conveyers as described above arranged so that an article may be raised, moved horizontally and then lowered. Fig. 7 (not shown) illustrates a conveyer giving two raising or lowering actions with an intermediate horizontal run. Fig. 8 (not shown) illustrates a modification of Fig. 1 wherein part of the conveyer itself forms a loading or discharging conveyer. Laterally projecting discharge bars 13, Fig. 2 (not shown), connected to the front pair of chains 1 project upwards on the horizontal run and so assist in discharging articles 21 over the head drum 5.
