A multiple punch holder comprises a plurality of punch holders mounted on a common shaft and movable individually into alignment with the ram of a press. Fig. 1 shows the table 1 and the guide 2 of a press in which a ram 3 moves vertically. In a support 11 is journalled a shaft 7 which has an arm 9 secured to its upper end and which is biased upwardly by a spring 8. Rotatable on the shaft are three arms 4, 5 and 6 each of which is bored to receive a punch assembly comprising a punch guide 13, a punch 30 and a stripper spring 12. A spring-loaded pin 14 engages a slot in each arm when the punch carried thereby is in alignment with the ram. When the ram 3 moves down, a workpiece 15 is first clamped between the guide 13 and the die 16 and as the ram continues to move downwards the spring 12 is compressed and the punch is forced through the workpiece. As the ram retracts the spring 12 strips the work off the punch and the spring 8 lifts the shaft 7. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the shaft 7 does not move axially, but the punch guide is slidable in the holder and is biased upwardly by a spring 18. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), both the punch guide and the shaft 7 are fixed in their mounts, but the mounting for the shaft 7 is carried by two flexible cantilevered arms 20 and 21.
