Abstract

1,036,854. Finishing clothing. BIELLA SHRUNK PROCESS S.A.S. Nov. 5, 1964 [Feb. 28, 1964], No. 45215/64. Heading D1L. Apparatus for finishing readymade clothing e.g. coats and trousers comprises a carriage 6 in which the clothing is laid alternately with layers of porous material such as cotton, linen, foamed synthetic rubber or expanded plastics material and an autoclave 1 into which the carriage can be placed to have steam passed therethrough. The carriage has upper and lower perforated metal plates 9, 10 and carrier distance pieces 11 and it runs on rails 7 into the autoclave. The carriage fits closely in the autoclave such that when steam is introduced through a pipe 2, the air in the clothing which becomes heated by the steam, is forced through the carriage and out through a vent 3. When steam begins to issue from vent 3 it is closed so that steam treatment of the clothing may proceed under pressure. A turn-table with four carriage receiving stations may be provided with a carriage loading position, a position in which a carriage may be passed into the autoclave, and a carriage unloading position. The autoclave may have doors at each end so that two carriages can be simultaneously introduced and treated or it may be operated in tunnel fashion with loading at one end and unloading at the other.
