Abstract

1,036,733. Container closure. WELLCOME FOUNDATION Ltd. Jan. 17, 1963 [Jan. 30, 1962], No. 3547/62. Headings B8P and B8T. A container 1 has a cap 2 rotatable on its neck 3 to bring apertures 9 and 12 in the neck and cap respectively into and out of register. Relative rotation of the parts is limited by a projection 13 on the cap engaging in an extension 10 of the aperture 9, and the cap is retained on the container by a rim 17 snap-locking below a rim 11 on the neck. The neck and cap are tapered upwards slightly and the cap is recessed above the rim to increase its flexibility and so ease assembly. In a modification, Fig. 12, the apertures 9 and 12, the extension 10, and the projection 13, are formed on the end walls of the container and cap. Apparatus for locking the caps on the containers includes a flexible and intermittently driven conveyer 24 by which the containers, with the caps loosely fitted, are fed to a position below a revolving chuck 28 lined with a rubber pad 29. At this position the containers are lifted in turn. by a platform 30 raised by a reciprocating member 31, so that the caps are pressed on to the containers by the chuck, and the apertures turned out of register.
