A projection screen comprises a flexible screen of rectangular outline and a rope stitched to one side of it adjacent but spaced from one edge, which rope is held in a slot in a tubular roller so as to mount the screen on the roller. In the embodiment shown in Figs 1, 9,10, the screen apparatus comprises a lenticulated plastic or glass screen 44 mounted on a roller in a housing 41 and a tubular slot 82 and is held in the operating position by means a spring loop 91 on the slot 82 engaging a hook 20 on a telescopic rod 11,16 pivotable mounted on the housing 41. The projector legs 13 are collapsible. rope 47 (Fig 9) is stitched on to the bottom end of the screen 48 at a distance 49 from the edge and is slotted into a tubular roller 55 the edge 49 being held down by adhesive strip 57 and covered by a strip 58 to ensure that screen 45 can be rolled up smoothly on roller 55. The roller 55 is pivotably mounted on pivots 65, 68 in the housing 41 (Fig 10) and is urged by spring 72 into a position in which screen 45 is rolled up on it. A second rope is attached in a manner similar to the first at the top of the screen and together with the strip corresponding to part 49 is slotted into a tube 82. Springclips attached to the ends of the rope are sprung over the ends of the tube, to tension the rope and screen, and are covered by end caps 86, 87. In another embodiment, (Fig 13) tube 82 is replaced by tube 100 with a slot 101, the edges of which are radially staggered, and curved slots 102 to grip the ends of the rope.
