Abstract
Liquid in an electrically non-conductive distillation container-e.g. of polyethylene or PTFE-is heated by disposing, in the lower region of the container, a conductive member-e.g. a nickel/chromium or graphite ring or tube-which is itself heated by an induction coil located around the lower part of the container. Two conductive members and and corresponding coils may be mounted at different heights in the container (Fig. 3, not shown), and a coil arrangement for use with a round-bottomed container is described (Fig. 2, not shown).
