Abstract

1,035,143. Straps and bands. THOMAS & BETTS CO. July 30, 1964, No. 30256/64. Heading A4X. A self-clinching bundling strap S of moulded nylon has an elongated body portion 10 with a flat side 12, a convex side 14 and rounded marginal edges, the convex side 14 having spaced parallel ribs 18, a head portion 24 terminating in an oval eyelet 26 and a tapered tail portion 20 having on its flat side 12 spaced parallel transverse projections 22, and the eyelet portion 26 has in a gusset part 28 a flat flexible pawl-like tongue 22 of stainless steel so that when the strap is looped on itself and drawn through the eyelet 26 the free end of tongue 42 flexes as the looped portion is drawn over it but reacts and bites into it to prevent relative reverse motion. The head 24 may have a continuation in the form of a circular boss with a transverse aperture for securing the strap to a fixed support.
