A hose or conduit for carrying bunched electrical conductors comprises a flexible tube 1 corrugated throughout its length, an internal helical wire 2 lying in the troughs of the corrugations, a plaited or braided tubular metal sheath 3 enclosing the tube and conformed to the corrugated tube shape by a nylon or other cord 4 helically wound under tension, a canvas or similar hard-wearing wrapping 7 surrounding the sheath, and an outer helical wire 8, the convolutions of which lie above the convolutions of said cord 4. The tube 1 is preferably extruded from neoprene, although any suitable material such as polyvinylchloride, polytetrafluorethylene, a polyamide or natural or synthetic rubber may be used. The corrugated tube form is preferably produced on introduction of the wire 2 into the smooth tube 1. Alternatively, the corrugations may be preformed. The braided sheath, comprising wires lying at acute angles to each other, is conformed to the tube corrugations by mounting the tube with its internal wire helix and the sheath on a rotatable mandrel and initially using a wire 5 to shape the sheath to the tube profile, the cord 4 then being wound on as the wire 5 is wound off, Fig. 2 (not shown). The canvas or other wrapping 7 is impregnated with a waterproofing and/or fire-proofing material and preferably takes the form of helical windings of large pitch.
