Abstract

Liquid hydrocarbons contain, as a corrosion inhibitor, at least 5 parts per million of an organic acid salt of either an amine zwitterion or an amino ester, typical salts being (a) the mono dioctyl acid orthophosphate salt of 3-[3-(oleylamino)propyl amino] butyric acid, and (b) the dimerized linoleic acid salt of 3-(oleylamino)butyric acid. The hydrocarbon may be crude oil, a lubricating oil, or a distillate such as gasoline.
